We Can Be Anything by: Apl de Ap

It's been a week now that I’m having an LSS (Last song syndrome) over Apl de Ap’s We Can Be Anything.  I heard it first time in a Moving Up ceremony wherein the song was used as the kid’s graduation song and I loved it instantly.  The song is so inspiring, makes you dream, get an education and be a professional.  It made me recall my younger years; all I wanted then was to graduate from college and land a job I dreamed of and free up my parents from expenses, at least for me.

I am proud of Apl de Ap that despite of being big in the international music world, he looks back to his homeland to help and he’s proud of himself being a Pinoy. Thumbs up to you, Apl de Ap!

Kitchen Visit: No-Bake Blueberry Cheesecake

I was searching for something to do for the long weekend last week and I bumped into this blog:
http://www.maruism.com/2012/02/24/recipe-no-bake-blueberry-cheesecake/.  I printed it and cut out the picture of the ingredients and bought the exact brand in The Landmark grocery.

With my cousin, we tried it last Holy Thursday.  It was a simple recipe.  We just did some modifications; we doubled everything except for the blueberry filling and we did not put in nutmeg and cinnamon powder.  Here’s our version:

NO-BAKE BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE

Crust:
3 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 tablespoon sugar
1 bar softened butter

Cheesecake filling:
2 bricks cream cheese
2 bricks all purpose cream
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons liquid milk
2 tablespoon unflavored gelatin (2 sachet of Knox)

Topping:
1 can Comstock
 Blueberry pie filling

The result:
So yummy! Not bad for a first timer!

Me Time: Nail Art

It's my ME time!

My nails turned from this:

This is my first time to have a green nail polish.  As my dear younger cousin said, for a change as I always have them done in pinkish color.

Recognition Day Observations

I’ve been to many Recognition Days when I was growing up.  This year is different as it is my first time to attend a recognition day as a parent.  My kid is one of the kids recognized for academic excellence.  I am a proud mom and hubby too that we took off from work to be on this occasion.

Here are some observations/suggestions:

For teachers:
  • Research and practice everything you have to say.  You don't have to pretend you're slang when you're not.  You somewhat represent your school and one way to promote the quality of education in your school is through the teachers.
  • As far as I know and if my memory serves it right, the Philippine National Anthem is a 4 by 4 beat.  But seeing the teacher conducting Lupang Hinirang, she did a 2 by 4 beat.
For parents:
  • Dress appropriately.  For me, wearing shorts is unacceptable as it is not a swimming event.
  • Cooperate.  Follow instructions when and where to take pictures.

Bellevue Hotel

Our family spent the weekend at Bellevue Hotel in Northgate, Alabang.  We stayed in a Deluxe Room at the main building for an overnight and here’s our experience.

The Deluxe room is spacious enough for two adults and 2 kids as it has a king size bed.  There are 4 big pillows, sufficient for the family.

We love the CR. It has a separate shower room and a tub that kids can enjoy.

Comfort Room and Shower Room
Bathtub
Green Tea Shampoo, Conditioner and Lotion

The room has complete amenities – bath robes and towels, toiletries, complimentary water, tea, coffee, fruits, bar, flat screen television with cable, free wifi.  There is also free newspaper.
Complimentary water, coffee, sugar, tea - complete with electric pot and cups, spoons and saucers
Fruits
Mini Bar

An overnight stay entitles you for a two (2) welcome drink at either the poolside or at the bar, pool access (3rd floor) and a buffet breakfast (2nd floor).

Food for the breakfast buffet was very good.  We love it!

There is an open parking and basement parking available free for the occupants with security.
Access card is used in the elevators to go to the rooms, additional security.
Hallway
The place is surrounded by call center offices so you would notice a lot of people walking in the streets even in late night.  There are also available fast food chains like McDo and Jollibee nearby.  Also, there is 7-11, Bacolod Chicken and others.

Just some comments:
  • There are no standby bellboys at the lobby that would help you with your things.  You have to request.
  • The front desk officer forgot to return my Id after registration.  I thought it was just me, but a friend who stayed in another room also left her Id at the front desk.  Good thing is they delivered it in our room.
Check out their website: http://www.thebellevue.com/

Looking forward to going back to this hotel in the future! .. and also to visit their Bohol hotel.
